Behind every safe workday is the peace of mind of every employee’s family
At PlanToys, behind every employee is a family waiting for them to return home safely. Safety is not just a regulation for us — it’s a fundamental commitment.
In every certified factory or workplace, Safety Officers play a crucial role in ensuring that work environments are secure and employees are protected. Today, we invite you to meet Ms.Narumon Srithep and Ms.Sarinya Supden, Professional Level Safety Officers from our Safety, Occupational Health, and Environment (SHE) Department, as they share insights into their mission and the importance of cultivating a strong culture of safety for everyone.
A Day in the Life of a Safety Officer
Safety Officers oversee the well-being of both people and workplaces. Their daily responsibilities include checking that employees wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for their specific tasks and inspecting environmental conditions such as heat, lighting, noise, and machine safety, ensuring that protective guards are properly installed and functioning.
They also assess the risks associated with different machinery, document potential hazards, and design strategies for risk control and process improvement. Through annual assessments, they monitor and update the risk levels of equipment to ensure proactive safety management.
Inspections are conducted both onsite and through online systems, covering facilities, freight elevators, hot oil systems, and overall environmental conditions. Any abnormalities are promptly reported and addressed to ensure that each workday runs smoothly and safely.
Safety is Everyone’s Responsibility
Safety Officers collaborate closely with the production teams, working hand-in-hand to assess risks across every process — from machine operation to workplace ergonomics and surrounding environments. They also drive various safety initiatives, such as training on occupational illnesses, first aid, and PPE optimization for specific workplace hazards.
Learning from Real-World Experiences
One critical learning moment was a fire incident in a dust silo, caused by friction inside a duct. Thanks to an automatic alert system and quick action from the maintenance team, the situation was swiftly contained. This incident reinforced the importance of maintaining rigorous preventive measures.
In response, we enhanced our safety practices by implementing Job Safety Analysis (JSA), pinpointing specific hazards like saw blades on cutting machines, and refining work procedures to prevent accidents. We also introduced training based on real-life “near-miss” cases to help employees better understand prevention strategies and foster a proactive safety mindset.
Leveraging Technology for Greater Safety
We have jointly developed a Management Information System (MIS) for monthly fire extinguisher inspections, enabling real-time status checks with photo attachments and automated reporting. In addition, an online PPE requisition system has been implemented to minimize manual input errors and make the process more convenient for managers and frontline employees.
Training: The Foundation of Safety
All new employees undergo comprehensive safety training through lectures, videos, and assessments to ensure a clear understanding of safe practices. Regular Morning Talk sessions cover essential topics such as PPE usage, machine maintenance, and chemical handling safety. Department heads also conduct specialized training at job sites to ensure employees can confidently apply safety principles in their daily work.
A Message from Our Safety Officers
To us, being a Safety Officer is more than a job; it’s a commitment to protecting lives every day. We may not always produce visible results, but the greatest reward is seeing a growing awareness and commitment to safety among our colleagues. What was once seen as strictness is now recognized as genuine care.
There is sometimes a misconception that our role is to "find faults," but in truth, our mission is to “prevent loss before it happens.” We encourage everyone to wear PPE properly, follow safety procedures, and prioritize personal health. If you are ever unwell, please rest — because every machine carries risks, and every life is irreplaceable.
This Labour Day, we extend our heartfelt wishes to all our colleagues: may you enjoy good health, work safely, and return home happily each day. Together, with mutual care and commitment, we can nurture a strong safety culture that grows sustainably alongside our organization.
Safety is a Reflection of Who We Are
Everything PlanToys does in the field of safety stems from more than the dedication of our Safety Officers — it reflects our company’s core philosophy: placing people at the center of everything we do.
Because of this commitment, PlanToys has been honored with the “Wellness for Nation-Building” Award (Wellness CNB AWARD) in the Wellness Corporate Innovation category under the Wellness Corporate Nation-Building Project, awarded by the Nation-Building Institute (NBI).
At PlanToys, employees are not merely “workers” but the driving force behind our sustainable growth. That’s why we are committed to nurturing quality of life and creating a workplace where happiness and well-being thrive. For the past 43 years, we have continuously invested in programs and benefits that support both the body and mind, because we believe that when our people grow, so does our future.
