The Evolution of the Xylophone

In 1993, our design team invented a new way to assemble wooden xylophone keys by lacing them through the stings and bent plywood, drawing inspiration from traditional Thai xylophones. At the time, bent plywood was used in the Scandinavian furniture industry; PlanToys was adapted to create the first xylophone made with this material for enhanced durability. Thus, the PlanToys Oval xylophone was the world's first musical toy to use bent plywood. We use density theory to generate various sounds by cutting wood into different sizes. The colorful color is for educational exploration. We have developed our Oval Xylophone to be modern and more straightforward designs, but we still use bent plywood because it is our design identity.

The Advent of Cotton-Latex Drums and Lightweight Plywood

In 2007, PlanToys innovative drums crafted from a fusion of cotton coated with latex. This combination seamlessly imitates the sound qualities of leather and the color vibrancy of plastic sheets, initiating an attractive form and function. Complementing this auditory innovation, our utilization of plywood shows in a new era of lightweight yet resilient toys meticulously empowering little hands to explore with ease.

Rethinking the Banjo

In 2007, we innovated new materials used in the Banjo by reimagining the traditional banjo from 1999. Its original design was bulky and heavy, making it difficult for little hands to hold comfortably. We, therefore, use cotton coated with latex to reduce the weight, making it more convenient for children to carry.

Inspired by a seasoned drummer, the design cleverly captures the essence of a real drum set with child-friendly adaptations. It allows children to explore their musical  side and develop crucial drumming skills like rhythm, coordination, and physical agility, laying a robust foundation for holistic growth.
